Somewhere in every first conversation, there's a why. Sometimes it's the first thing a woman says. Sometimes it comes out halfway through, almost by accident. After enough of these conversations you notice the reasons sort themselves into a handful, and nearly every woman who walks into our boudoir studio in Newnan, Georgia has at least one of them.
Here they are, roughly in the order I hear them. If you find yours in here, that's your sign.
She wants her confidence back
This is the most common one, and the word that matters in it is "back." Not something she never had — something she had and lost somewhere along the way. She remembers what it felt like to feel pretty. To feel sexy. She'd like to feel it again, and she'd like photographs that prove she still can.
She has something to celebrate
A birthday with a zero in it. The sixty pounds. A degree, a promotion, the business she finally started. A body she's proud of after years of work. The occasion comes first and the confidence rides along with it. These are some of my favorite sessions, because she walks in already knowing why she's here.
She's making peace with her body
Not the body she's waiting for. The one she has, today, at the age she is. A lot of women tell me they're happier with their body now than they were at twenty-one, and they'd like that on record. The camera doesn't need you smaller or younger. It needs you here.
She's starting over
A divorce that's finally final. A year she'd rather not repeat, now behind her. A loss, and the slow climb out of it. She wants something that marks where she was and where she is now — proof that she's still here, and still herself.
She wants to see what he sees
He tells her she's beautiful. She'd like to be able to believe him. Sometimes the session is a gift for him, and almost always it turns out to be a gift for her too.
It's her turn
She's somebody's mom, somebody's nurse, somebody's manager. She's spent years being the one everybody counts on and the last name on her own list. This is the one thing on the calendar that's just hers.
And sometimes, no reason at all
She's always wanted to. She finally did it. That's enough — you don't need a reason that would impress anyone.
What happens next

A few practical things, because I know you're wondering. The studio is in Newnan, Georgia, just off I-85 and about forty minutes southwest of Atlanta, and women come in for the morning from Peachtree City, Sharpsburg, Senoia, Fayetteville, LaGrange, and all over the south side of Atlanta. The session can be a few weeks out or a few months, whichever suits you. Most of my clients pay over time on a payment plan rather than all at once. And whether you've been photographed a hundred times or never liked a single picture of yourself, the posing is handled — you'll be told exactly what to do, down to where to look and when to breathe.
